What is a casement stay?
Casement stays are metal bars that are used to hold a window either in fixed open position or closed. Most metal windows are supplied with the casement stays already installed, whereas wood windows may require the casement stays to be purchased separately.
Casement stays are usually supplied with two metal pins that hold the window in place. The pins are affixed to the interior windowsill, and the stays are affixed to the bottom part of the window frame. The holes in the stays allow the window to be held open at multiple different angles.
