How to Fit a Cabin Hook
Cabin hooks are used to hold doors and gates either in an open or closed position. They feature the hooking mechanism, which is attached to a metal plate that fixes to the hook or door, as well as an eye that the hook threads through.
If you’re looking to install a cabin hook, then we have simple instructions to help you get the job done quickly and easily!
What can I use a cabin hook for?
Cabin hooks can be used for a variety of applications, including interior doors, gates, patio doors, and even cabinet doors. They can also be used for additional security on the interior of a front door – in this case, they are usually installed above the door lock.
How to fit a cabin hook
- Use a pencil to mark where you want your hook to sit. This is completely up to personal preference.
- Now mark where you want the eye to sit. Make sure that the eye placement aligns with the hook placement, otherwise you won’t be able to thread the hook through the eye!
- Once you’re happy with the placement of both components, mark through the screw holes on each piece with a pencil.
- Drill pilot holes in all the areas you marked in step 3.
- Finally, replace each component with the pilot holes aligning with the screw holes and fix into place!
It’s that easy – now your cabin hook is installed and ready to use!
