We offer a comprehensive range of high-quality set screws. Available in both metric and imperial thread sizes to meet diverse fastening requirements, hex set screws are fasteners with a hexagonal socket in the head and threads running the entire length of the body.

Set Screw Standards and Specifications

Our hexagon set screws are produced to the following industry-leading standards:

  • Metric: Manufactured to BS EN DIN933 High Tensile Grade 8.8 for exceptional strength and durability.
  • Imperial UNF & UNC Grade S: Conform to BS1768 for UNF and UNC grade S fasteners.
  • Imperial BSF, BSW, BA Grade R: Adhere to BS1083 for these thread types and grades.

We also offer fine pitch options for specific applications. Use our conversion chart if you need help determining the right size.

Can I use hex set screws for load-bearing applications?

While hex set screws are versatile, they're not typically recommended for primary load-bearing applications. They're best suited for preventing lateral movement or rotation. For load-bearing needs, consider our hex bolts or coach screws instead.

What's the difference between Grade 8.8 and stainless steel hex set screws?

Grade 8.8 steel offers high strength and is suitable for most general applications. A2 stainless steel screws provide better corrosion resistance, making them ideal for outdoor or humid environments, but may have slightly lower strength.

Are your hex set screws suitable for marine environments?

For marine applications, we recommend our A2 stainless steel set screws. They offer good corrosion resistance in saltwater environments.

Do you offer custom hex set screws?

While we stock a wide range of standard sizes and materials, custom orders may be possible through our fabrication service. Contact our sales team to discuss your specific requirements.
