Hammer Screws and Frame Anchors

Hammer screws are light duty hammer fixings consisting of a screw and a quality nylon plug.

They are commonly used for fixing timber and PVC window frames into masonry.

To use a hammer fixing, the item being fixed is first pre-drilled and then a masonry drill is used to drill a hole to the required depth in the substrate. The nylon plug is then tapped into place with a hammer and the screw inserted. The screw is then hammered fully home.

The reason that this fixing utilises a screw rather than a nail is that if required, the screw can be removed at a later date using a screwdriver or bit in the recessed head of the hammer screw.

Nylon Frame Anchors work in exactly the same way as hammer screws except for the fact that they are screwed into position rather than hammered.
