Guide to Threadlock Fluids
Thread lock is the common name for a group of thread locking fluids, a thin type of adhesive that is applied to a particular type of fastener to stop it from becoming loose or from leaking. It can also be used as an anti-corrosion treatment. The scientific name for thread lock is anaerobics.
We stock the following different options from Delta adhesives;
All are all designed to lock and seal threaded fasteners.
SCREW GRADE | STUD GRADE | NUT GRADE |
The following table highlights the key properties of each type;
NAME | COLOUR | STRENGTH | PERMANENCE |
DELTA D44 SCREWLOCK | PURPLE | LOW | EASY TO DISASSEMBLE |
DELTA D77 NUTLOCK | BLUE | MEDIUM | SEMI-PERMANENT |
DELTA D66 STUDLOCK | RED | HIGH | PERMANENT |
All surfaces must be clean for thread lock to work efficiently, as it works by using the electrochemical activity of the product that it is being applied to.
In addition to the three types of threadlock in the table above we also stock retaining grades that are used to form strong assemblies where bearings, bushes and cylindrical parts are held in their housings or shafts. These are D55 High Strength and D88 High Temperature.
